#SHOESforrangers

SA WILDLIFE COLLEGE - FIELD RANGER LAW ENFORCEMENT
STUDENTS TRAINING SHOES COLLECTION
#shoesforrangers

The Southern African Wildlife College (http://wildlifecollege.org.za/) is based adjacent to the Kruger National Park, and has trained over 18 000 field rangers and conservationists.

Two of their keystone courses are Field Ranger Law Enforcement –

Unarmed and Field Ranger Law Enforcement – Armed.

These candidates are on the front lines in the fight against wildlife crime.

Many of the candidates who attend are unable to afford basic field gear, like training shoes.

What are the outcomes we are chasing?

Give it Horns aims to collect used sneakers, as well as collect monetary donations of R20,000, to purchase new sneakers and field boots, for at least 50 ranger trainees, twice a year.

WILD RESPONSE & SOLDIERS FOR WILDLIFE

BASE OF OPERATIONS

Wild Response (https://wildresponse.org/) and Soldiers for Wildlife (www.soldiersforwildlife.org) focus on training, advising, and assisting wildlife rangers worldwide in the fight against the illegal wildlife trade.

Both organisations are based on the Olifants West Reserve, which forms part of the Greater Kruger Park Game Reserve – also based on this property are the ladies-only anti-poaching unit, The Black Mambas

Wild Response and Soldiers for Wildlife will train the ladies in order to improve and broaden their skill sets, and ultimately the effectiveness of The Black Mambas, as well as overseeing the patrols of the fence lines and landscape.

What are the outcomes we are chasing?

The base of operations will require furnishing and outfitting – we aim to raise R100 000 in order to assist in kitting out the house for Wild Response and Soldiers for Wildlife, and their visiting specialist trainers, who may spend months there at a time.

PROJECT 2:  R.A.M.P Med-Kits

WILD RESPONSE & SOLDIERS FOR WILDLIFE

R.A.M.P (RANGER ADVANCED MEDICAL PROGRAM) MEDICAL TRAUMA KITS

Wild Response (https://wildresponse.org/) and Soldiers for Wildlife (www.soldiersforwildlife.org) provide medical trauma training to rangers in the Greater Kruger Area in order to greatly enhance the safety and lifesaving abilities of the ranger force, as well as bringing lifesaving skills to the rangers’ families and communities (through their newly acquired skills).

In the last 12 months, 170 rangers have been trained, and 90 medical trauma kits have been donated at nine locations / units.

What are the outcomes we are chasing?

A US-based company supplies the medical kits to Wild Response, and as these are priced in US dollars, we are raising funds to subsidise the purchases of these kits. Currently, the cost of each pack and to get it to South Africa, is US $35 (approximately ZAR525)

Give it Horns aims to collect monetary donations of R78,750, to purchase 15 of these kits.
